STILA Eyeshadow Trio in Rose Gold

Hey guys! Sorry for the prolonged posting, the last week has been seriously crazy. Anyway, I'm back!

Today's special is the Stila Eyeshadow Trio in Rose Gold. Can I start by saying that the picture on the Stila/Ulta/Sephora website (the one on the intro picture above) does absolutely NO justice to the actual trio at all?

The colors, as you can see above, are actually much more pigmented, and a lot lighter. (And yeah, Ive got really long fingers. Don't judge.)  I first heard about this trio in this video, and I've been obsessed ever since I got it!

The colors, while I don't think they have any particular names, are taupe, burgundy red, and champagne. When I first saw it in person, I thought that the colors were pretty dark, but unless you go crazy, you can make a really subtle and pretty, shimmery look, even by just using one of the colors.

For the pigmentation, I use mine with the BareMinerals Prime Time eye primer (a mini tube that came with a duo) so it's more pigmented than if you use it without. The color payoff is amazing when used on top of a white/tan base or primer.

I know a lot of people are often concerned about too much glitter, but these really have more of a subtle shimmer in them that doesn't scream "YAY GLITTER PARTY WHOOP UNICORNS IN DA HOUSE". Because no one wants that at all.

As for the texture, it's not as creamy as per say, one of the Naked palettes (Urban Decay) or some of the Too Faced ones, but it's definitely better than one of the travel palettes from a while ago that I have from Stila, which has a really hard and super powdery texture. (I think it's the Lovely in London one.) It looks sort of like a baked eyeshadow, but it's texture and consistency is super similar as the Naked palettes- the best consistency ever!

Pictures really don't do this trio justice, you really just need to swatch them yourself. I attempted to take some swatch photos numerous times, but the lighting just couldn't get the colors to show up as they really are. Instead, here's my descriptions of each color.

Lightest Color (champagne): A very light tan color that'll look great on everyone, it's almost at the borderline between a subtle gold and silver, which I love. It's a perfect highlight color, or just an overall main color.

Taupe (silver): Once again, a warm, borderline gold-silver that's seriously amazing. While it appears gray in the picture, you can see in person once it's swatched or on your eye, it creates a stunning taupe color that you can just wear alone.

Burgundy Red (dark brown): This is the darkest color in the palette, and is best described as a light copper. It's super pretty, and while it's a bit dark for just wearing alone (in my opinion) it's super pretty.

This trio is super versatile, and any color could be worn alone for a great effect, mix two together, create a subtle or dramatic look, or if you wanted to, a smokey eye.

I'd recommend this to everyone! The two lighter colors, worn alone or together, are great for school or just casual days, and put in with the copper/burgundy, you can dress it up for special occasions.

Overall, this trio is definitely a most have! I purchased mine at Ulta (with a coupon) but you can get it at Ulta or Sephora. (Ulta usually has more coupons, though!)
